Glossier is a brand that creates simple yet effective products which are fun to use, with pink as their go-to colour. They look cute, especially for those who love a beauty Insta picture, but are they as good as the reviews say?

My skin has been in need of some serious TLC since a couple of stubborn bad breakouts, and the Exfoliating Skin Perfector and Spot Eraser looked like they’d do the job. The reviews label the products as ‘game-changers’ and ‘a miracle’, with many of the people who use it suffering from acne prone skin.

Exfoliating Solution

The solution seems to be a Holy Grail product for some, noting that it reduced their acne and pigmentation over a matter of days. Top ingredients include BHA salicylic acid to help unclog pores, AHA glycolic acid which brightens the skin and helps to improve tone and texture, AHA lactic acid to reduce the appearance of dark spots and PHA to exfoliate the skin whilst moisturising it. To help keep the product gentle on the skin, soothing properties of aloe, glycerin and niacinamide keep skin hydrated and calm.

The bottle itself has a great way of dispensing product without any wastage. Using a cotton pad, you push down and it soaks the pad. So kudos for that! After cleansing, I wiped the product over my skin and I let it settle. There was no reaction to my skin, and after a minute I followed up with a moisturiser. Job done.

Zit Stick

I used the Zit Stick post-moisturising because my skin is too dry without it and this product is too tacky to moisturise over. Twisting the bottom of the pen a few times, the liquid finally dispensed. You only need to use this on either individual spots or a small surface area, so I did just that. It stings a bit at first, but that was expected. Maybe it was after using the solution too?

Ingredients for this include salicylic acid which again, exfoliates the skin to de-clog pores, capryloyl salicylic acid as a gentle derivative of salicylic acid to reduce inflammation of product, and tea tree oil, a natural ingredient known for its healing and anti-bacterial properties.

And the verdict is…

After a couple of days, the improvements were noticeable. Bumps had flattened, and new spots about to form never reached its peak. I can’t say whether this product stops acne from appearing, as mine are hormonal and if you know anything about that, they appear uncontrollably every month (or at least it seems that way..). It did, however, fasten the pace of acne as once one appeared, it soon went. Under the skin spots also seem to react well to both these products.

As with a lot of these kinds of chemicals, it did dry my skin so a good moisturiser is handy. I did find at first that my skin peeled in certain areas where there was a bad stubborn spot and I used the zit stick as well, but it never became inflamed and instead revealed a flat, smooth surface.

If you have tried a few different products for your acne with no luck, then give this ago. MODAN would love to hear your thoughts.

All of the items were bought by MODAN, and not sent to be reviewed. The opinions expressed in this article are that of the author’sWhat works for them, may not work for you. But it’s always fun giving a new product a go!
