FROM LENGTH TO VOLUME – WE TAKE A LOOK AT MASCARA

When it comes to mascara, we all have our preferred go-to. From just wanting a flick of the lash, to a full-blown fake-look. We take a look at mascara that promises full, lengthy lashes to suit different budgets.

DIOR – Diorshow Iconic Overcurl (£28)
Apparently inspired by the big-screen eyes of movie-star icons (I assume the Hollywood golden age of the past, not now), this mascara promises a curled eyelash with volume. Yes, it does just that, but the best part of all, it is waterproof and looked fabulous all day.

Karl Lagerfeld X L’oréal Paris Volume (£15)
When it comes to luxury brands, this mascara is affordable (though may not be back in stock, FYI). With its buildable formula, a thick, full lash is achievable. The only downside is that it gave me panda eyes when worn all day. Disappointing.

GUCCI – Mascara L’Obscur (£30)
Not only is the packaging appealing with its vintage look, but the mascara itself is a dream. It promises voluminous lashes, which it gives to some extent, but not if you’re after a ‘just had fake lashes put on’ look. Instead, it lengthens them – with no clumps – and stays put with its smudge-proof formula. In the words of Tom Nook, “yes, yes!”

Maybelline – The Falsies Instant Lash Lift Look (£9.99)
This mascara states itself as being better than a professional salon lash lift. I can’t say whether it is or isn’t, but it most certainly gives lashes volume and length without running down your face after a few hours. If you’re after an understated eye, then this is a no-go, but if you want the ‘wow factor’ without the clumps, then this is worth ago.
