With many of us understanding that sitting for hours in the sun for bronzed looking skin does us more harm than good, a lot of people are choosing to use the fake tan route – plus, you can stay glow-y all year round – bonus!
Isle of Paradise are known for their innovative products, with their new self-tan mists being called a ‘category disrupter’. Forget brown, patchy streaks and hello natural looking glow. The face mists help to keep your face looking as if you’ve caught the sun without the red or obvious ‘is that a fake tan?’ remark.
The Day Dew Self-Tan Mist (£15.95) is a bi-phase face mist for the morning and can be used before make-up for a dewy look or alone to give your skin an extra boost of bronze. It’s packed full of goodies to help you start the day such as lemon, rosemary and sage oils to give your senses a chance to wake up. The hyaluronic acid and glycerin hydrate, plump and lock-in moisture, whilst giving protection against blue light damage – you know, from your phone and laptop.
The Night Glow Self-Tan Mist (£15.95) is a bi-phase face mist to use last in your skincare routine to calm the senses before heading to bed. Not only that, it hydrates, refreshes and revives your skin’s glow. A soothing blend of ylang ylang, jasmine, and lavender help to relax the mind ready for sleep, whilst, just like the day glow, once shaken the oils fuse with hydrating hyaluronic acid and glycerin to lock-in moisture all night long so your skin looks well rested and radiant in the morning.
The brand is also known for its tanning waters, which founder, Jules Von Hep, say are great for first time fake tanners. “Tanning is about logic, the more tan you add to the skin the deeper your end result will be, therefore as a first-time tanner, apply just one light layer to the skin and get used to the colour change you see after the tan has developed (4-6 hours).
“If you want to go deeper next time, just add more during application. Spray the waters onto the skin much like you would spray a body mist or like an SPF at the beach, spraying onto the face and body and rubbing in with your hands [but] you can also use an applicator mitt if you’re nervous.”
What makes the clear tanning water products easier for newbies is the fact there is also no colour transfer, so no need to wait for it to dry and get it all over clothes, towels or bed sheets.
“Waters are so lightweight, we can spray them over or under our make-up, they are clear so we can spray our skin in the morning, blend with an applicator mitt and glow to work. I like ease, I like beauty – I love tanning waters.”
And ease they sure are. Just remember to wash your hands after application, otherwise expect a dark colour compared to the rest of your skin!
